SALINA — Kansas Wesleyan completed a four-game, season-opening baseball sweep of Central Christian College on Saturday.

The Tigers’ pitching again took a hit as KW won 20-7 and 11-7. The Coyotes scored 53 runs in the four games.

In Game 1, the Coyotes needed only two innings to walk away with the win, scoring five times in the second inning and 13 in the fourth.

Central had a five-run sixth to show some life at the plate. Will Wild was 3 of 4 for Central and Shomari Cann stayed hot as he was 2 for 3. Joshua Zachary added a couple of RBIs.

The Tigers had a chance to salvage the final game of the series, down just 3-1 in the fifth, but KW erupted for eight runs. Central did show some fight with six runs in the seventh.

The Tigers showed some long ball capability as Brian Marroquin and Chance Carney both went yard. Seven Tigers had one hit.

Central travels to Arkansas next weekend for a four-game series with Ecclesia College, which will be Friday and Saturday.
