MAIZE — McPherson’s seventh-grade girls were outlasted 43-36 on Monday by Maize despite 15 points by Alexis Dukes.

Ella Buschbom chipped in with 9.

“Tonight we started out strong on both ends of the court,” Bullpup coach Kaleigh Huxman said. “Beating the press was a challenge for us, but I am proud of the girls for competing the entire game. It has been exciting to see the girls improve this season, especially in the last two weeks.”

The B-team was defeated 33-6 as three players scored two points each.

“It doesn't take much to see we have work to do,” MMS coach TJ Jackson said. “This group has athletic ability, just not a ton of experience. With their positive attitude and respect for each other, these girls are going to grow into a great group if they stick together. They have a fun group to coach all year.”

MMS A (36) — Dukes 15, Buschbom 9, Sears 5, Berger 2, Salmons 2, Lang 2. One point not accounted for.

MMS B (6) — Engelbrecht 2, LeBlanc 2, Lang 2.
