The Sooner Athletic Conference announced late last week its Academic All-Conference list for the fall sports including men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, and volleyball. The criterion for the distinction included an academic standing of sophomore or above with a 3.25 GPA in their previous two semesters.
Of the five sports included, there were a total of 222 student-athletes who made the list. The Tigers had a total of 25 (11.26%) athletes meet the criterion which was 3rd overall in the conference. John Brown University had the highest total of student-athletes on the list with 44.
For volleyball, there were a total of 68 student-athletes included on the list. The Tigers were second in the conference with 8 (11.76%). Making the grade for the Tigers were: Hannah Fredrickson, Kasi Kraus, Sarah Post, Makalyn Tuttle, Valerie Hess, Desiree Padilla, Kacie Platt and Rebekah Glessner.
The women's soccer list was comprised of 53 student-athletes. Central and John Brown tied for the highest number of players on the list, each with 11 (20.75%). Tigers making the cut were: Keely King, Goldie Bougher, Ashleigh Caudillo, Rachel Meier, Shannon Huesca, Naime Barba, Kaitlyn Bevel, Chelsea Nimmo, Madison Strickland, Isabel Sierra and Elizabeth Hottle.
The SAC Academic All-Conference list for men's soccer was made up of 49 student-athletes. The Tigers placed 6 (12.24%) on the list, putting them in a 4-way tie for 2nd with Bacone, MACU and Texas Wesleyan. John Brown was once again in the top spot with 8. Making the list for the Tigers: Cole Housh, Adam Langdon, Joshua Taylor, Joshua Dalton, Matthew Massey and Omar Salgado.
