McPherson High is gearing up to once again host the Kansas Girls High School Wrestling Championships.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 10, in the Roundhouse.
Girls wrestling is exploding as evidenced by the increased number of schools competing in this event. Last year there were 36 and this year there are 53.
This is still not a KSHSAA-sanctioned event, but it is hoped that designation will happen soon.
McPherson High has been the trailblazer in the event and was the first champion last year. The Bullpups have a large squad size and have been competing in girls-only tournaments this season.
