HAWKINS, Texas — McPherson College’s baseball team salvaged a .500 weekend on Sunday when it won Game 2 against Jarvis Christian College after having lost the opener.
Mac was 2-2 on this second Texas trip of the season and is now 6-2 overall as it returned home to find snow on the ground.
The Bulldogs were clipped 1-0 in the opener before rolling to a 15-2 victory in Game 2.
“It's tough to lose 1-0, especially after Luke Whitfield threw his heart out" Mac coach Bryan Moses said. "I think the way we bounced back to score 15 runs on the last day of a long road trip says something about our guys. It was a good feeling to be able to even up the weekend."
Game statistics were not available.
Mac is scheduled to make its 2018 home debut on Friday against Evangel College, then hosts Panhandle State on Saturday. However, the weather will have the final say. Friday’s highs are expected to be in the high 40s and it’s only supposed to be in the high 20s on Saturday.
