HUTCHINSON — McPherson’s eighth-grade boys sped past Salina South 47-33 on Saturday to advance to Tuesday’s semifinals against Hutchinson.
Seth Madron’s 28 points led the Bullpups while Jayden Dukes added 14.
“We came out shooting the ball really well in the first quarter hitting 3 3-pointers,” MMS coach Tyler Brown said. “Most games we struggle to hit that many for the entire game. But I will say the last few games we have shot the ball much better as a team. We had 30 points at halftime, which was one of our best halves of basketball offensively for the season. Our defense was also on lock to start the game, only allowing 4 points in the first quarter for South. But this will be the main factor if we can win Tuesday night. We locked them down, but it was for only the one quarter. Somehow we need to figure out that we can not take possessions of defensively.”
MHS is matched against Hutchinson in the 6:15 p.m. semifinals on Hutch’s home court.
