McPherson College’s women’s basketball team can take a huge step toward clinching a KCAC Postseason Tournament playoff spot on Wednesday when the Bulldogs travel to Nebraska to take on York College.
Game time is 6 p.m., with the men to follow.
The Mac women have dipped to 8-10 in the KCAC after back-to-back losses last week. The Bulldogs are in eighth place, two games up on both Ottawa and Southwestern, which are 6-12.
This is a game the Bulldogs have to win as York is 1-17 and has lost 13 games in a row. Mac dominated the first meeting, but it has struggled mightily on the road with just a 2-9 record.
The Bulldogs, now 12-13 overall, host Kansas Wesleyan on Saturday.
The Mac men are officially eliminated from the eight-team playoffs, but they certainly can play the role of spoiler.
The Bulldogs are 4-14 in the KCAC, 7-19 overall. However, they are just a game back of 5-13 teams Bethel and Sterling. Mac is ahead of 3-15 Bethany by a game for 11th and 12th.
York is tied with Saint Mary for fifth place at 11-7 in the conference, 14-11 overall. In the first meeting, Mac sprinted to a 22-point lead at one point in the first half, but the Panthers charged back for the 103-98 win.
