Central Christian College’s basketball teams head to Texas on Thursday to take on Wayland Baptist University in a Sooner Athletic Conference doubleheader that has a 6 p.m. start in Plainview.
The Central men are coming off a stunning 85-67 upset of No. 7-ranked University of Science and Arts, which certainly has grabbed everyone’s attention.
Wayland Baptist is No. 20 in the country, one of four nationally ranked SAC teams. It is 7-6 in the SAC, tied with John Brown for fifth place. It is 15-7 overall.
Central is 5-9 in the SAC, which is ninth. The Tigers are 12-10 overall. One of their losses was to Wayland Baptist, 78-70, at Alexander Arena.
It could be a long night for the CCC women, who are 0-14 in the conference and 1-21 overall. The Flying Queens are 11-2 in the Sooner, a half-game behind University of Science and Arts as well as Oklahoma City, both of whom are 12-2. Wayland Baptist was a 91-35 winner when it played CCC as Alexander Arena.
Central stays on the road Saturday to play at Panhandle State of Oklahoma.
