Here’s the Public Works Report from the March 12, 2018 City Commission meeting:

Street Department: Illuminated Stop Sign

Motion to approve the purchase of two AvaiLED AV200 (LED enhanced) Stop Signs from Gades Sales Company Incorporated for an amount not to exceed $4,200.00.

We looked into ideas to make the intersection at Avenue "A" and Maxwell safer.  We found a LED-enhanced stop sign option that we feel will help.  We think installing an AvaiLED AV 200 sign will draw attention to the stop requirement.  We received a quote from Gades Sales Company Incorporated for the AvaiLED AV 200 in the amount of $2,100 each.  These signs are solar powered.

Street Department: Approval of Conditional Job Offer -Equipment Operator in Training (Peter Kaberline)

Motion to approve making a conditional job offer to Peter Kaberline, pending successful background check and drug screen, for the position of Operator in Training, effective March 12, 2018.

We advertised for the position of Operator in Training, interviewed qualified applicants, and have selected Peter Kaberline for this position.  He comes to us with 1-1/2 years experience with a local concrete contractor.  We feel he will be a good fit for this position.

KDHE ROW Access Agreement

Motion to approve the KDHE Access Agreement to install 6 additional temporary wells placed on ROW near North Hickory and West Woodside Street and authorize the Mayor to sign.

On February 5, 2018, the Commission approved an access agreement to enable KDHE to install monitoring wells in City ROW near Woodside and Hickory.  They now want to install an additional 6 monitoring wells in the same general area.
