GALVA — Two innings were all Chase County needed on Tuesday against Moundridge in the semifinals of the Class 2-1A Regional Softball Tournament.

Chase County scored four runs in the second inning and three in the fifth to key a 7-1 victory as the Wildcats closed the year with a highly respectable 14-8 record.

Keira Sebrant and Taylon Potts had two hits apiece for the Wildcats and Potts drove in the only run in the sixth inning.

Makenzie Elmore took the loss despite throwing 19 first-pitch strikes and fanning three.

Chase County, the No. 2 seed, rode that momentum and knocked off Hillsboro 3-0 in the championship game to move on to state.
