Fire Department reports July 4 activity

The McPherson Fire Department reported its activity from the Fourth of July holiday due to firework related fires or injuries. Deputy Chief T.J. Wyssman reported:

-The City of McPherson Fire Department responded to 4 firework related calls for service.

-Two were from improper disposal of spent fireworks.

-One was a grass fire started from the discharge of fireworks.

-One was a smoke scare from the discharge of fireworks.

-Two out of the four firework related calls resulted in fire spread to adjacent structures causing fire damage. They estimate the fire damage to be less than $5,000 from all firework related calls for service.

-No known civilian injuries to report.

-One Fire personnel suffered minor injuries combating the structure fires.
