ELYRIA — It was a 1-1 night for Canton-Galva’s volleyball team as it competed in the Elyria Christian School quad in preparation for this weekend’s Canton-Galva Invitational.

C-G defeated Elyria (25-18, 25-21), but lost to always-strong Goessel (15-25, 13-25).

“The girls played hard tonight, did a great job executing offensive coverage in both matches,” Canton-Galva coach Cloe Hedlund said.

Elyria Christian lost its other match to Centre in a tough three-setter (9-25, 25-18, 20-25).

The ECS highlight of the night was a 12-dig performance by Brekken Anderson against Canton-Galva.

“Tonight we lacked confidence and energy,” ECS coach Jayme Gardner said. “We began to play well after we had dug ourselves a hole that was just too big for us. We need to focus on starting each game how we finish. Consistency is something that we continue to struggle with.”
