MHS performers successful at audition

GODDARD — Several McPherson High band, choir and orchestra students auditioned this weekend at Goddard Eisenhower for a spot in one of the South Central KMEA Performing Groups.

Several music students excelled and will represent MHS at the SCKMEA District Honor Group Day on Dec. 1.

Students selected to the SCKMEA 1234A Honor Band are:

• Megan Eisenbarth - Trumpet

• Hannah Kirchner - Clarinet

• Matthew Powers - Trombone

• Mary Wurm - Clarinet

• Wesley Wurm - Trombone

Also:

• Pierce Hamma - Clarinet (Alternate)

• Kaytlynn Kuder - Trumpet (Alternate)

• Meghan Monroe - Tenor Saxaphone (Alternate)

Students selected to the SCKMEA Choir(s) are:

• Tessa Boesker - Alto 1

• Kari Ellet - Alto 1

• Addie Fitzmorris - Alto 2

• Merris Neighbors - Soprano 2

• Lily Parker - Soprano 2

• Jenna Shanks - Alto 2

• Avery Strathman - Alto 1

• Josie Strathman - Soprano 1

• Kaliah Tice - Alto 2

• Paige Unruh - Soprano 2

• Zach Wash - Bass 1

Students selected to the SCKMEA Orchestra are:

• Ethan Burger - Trumpet

• Katie Hemenway - Flute

• Benjamin Hopkins - Tuba

• Sydney Myers - Clarinet

“This a very difficult audition process for high school students,” MHS Choral Music director Nicholas Griggs said. "From the students that auditioned and weren't selected to the students that were selected, congratulations are in order and we are very proud of all of them.  There are some incredible musicians here at MHS.”
