Broadway RFD, Lindsborg’s Community Theater and the Bethany College Theater Department are proud to partner together to bring the musical, Sondheim on Sondheim to audiences February 1st and 2nd, 2019.

This full musical revue consists of music and lyrics of Stephen Sondheim, known as the Father of the Modern American Musical. Songs from nineteen of Sondheim’s musicals, some well-known, some less-known and some cut songs create an evening showcasing this man’s extraordinary talent. In addition to the music, the audience will be taken to the very heart of Sondheim’s life and work through video clips of interviews and images. This provides the audience the opportunity to not only grow its appreciation for the music that has been a part of some of Broadway’s most beloved shows, but they will also understand how Sondheim’s personal experiences created the rich sound of each song.

“It’s interesting, I’ve discovered that many people are familiar Stephen Sondheim’s songs and shows, but don’t realize that he was the composer and lyricist. Shows such as West Side Story, Gypsy, Into The Woods, Sweeney Todd, Company are very popular musicals, and it’s Sondheim’s genius that made these shows what they are today. The fact that we get to collaborate with the Bethany College Theater Department to perform this show makes me very excited and is a wonderful opportunity for Broadway RFD. Combining our resources and talents just makes for an even better performance for our audience. This is truly a passion project for me so I can’t wait to see it come to life.”
