With the weather warming up and the grass beginning to grow, lawn mowing season has officially started. Streets and Utilities City Commissioner Larry Wiens wanted to remind McPherson residents to not blow grass clippings into the street when mowing your yard.

“People with lawn mowers, I caution them to not blow the clippings into the street. They will go into the storm sewer and it causes sewer problems. Our people at the wastewater plant have enough problems without having to deal with grass and clippings,” Wiens said.

“We do have an ordinance that says that it’s not legal to do that. So please help us and help yourselves and keep the grass in the bag or keep it in your yard.”
