The McPherson Public Library is celebrating National Library Week this week. At Monday’s McPherson City Commission meeting, Mayor Thomas Brown proclaimed the week as National Library Week with McPherson Public Library Director, Steve Read, in attendance.
“On average about 10,000 people pass through our doors each month,” Read said. “And last year we had about 12,000 people of all ages attend library programs. We assisted patrons with seeking information or working on research projects over 4,000 times last year. And every six minutes somebody starts a session on our WiFi network or our public PCs. We checked out almost 150,000 books, audio books, DVDs and toys last year.”
