McPherson High School had five Large Music Ensembles compete at the Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA) State Large Group Festival on Wednesday, April 11, at Smoky Valley High School in Lindsborg. McPherson had all five receive a ranking of “excellent” or better, with four taking home “superior” rankings.

“We are very proud of these students who are at the height of so many activities and responsibilities (both in school and out of school) and dug deep to pull off some incredible performances yesterday!”MHS Choral Music director Nicholas Griggs said.

“They work so hard for months and they only get 5 or 10 min on competition day to make sure they've demonstrated their understanding of proper techniques, skills and musicianship. Then the after those precious moments their entire season is over. They have to prepare incredibly hard to be at their best and be adjudicated for one single performance.”
