On Tuesday, April 16 at 7 p.m. four World War II veterans will be sharing their stories about their military experiences at the McPherson American Legion Post, 401 N. Main. This month featured guests will be Mitch Allmon, Gene Copeland, Carl Kasey, and Leo Mantz. Friends, family, and the public are invited to attend.
Newly elected Commander, Jim LaDuke began this monthly Veterans Night program in February as a way of getting to know what our veterans did while serving their country during WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Not every veteran served in battle, but each one played a significant role in the war effort as did many civilians.
“It takes about 10 support people for every single person on the battlefield which would include people in supply, transportation, medical staff, payroll clerks, cooks and etc.,” LaDuke said. “On the third Tuesday of each month going forward we will hear from four more veterans.”
