The McPherson Fire Department and Chief TJ Wyssmann issued a statement on Facebook on Thursday morning regarding an incident that occurred at ChemStar on Tuesday.
“We have a tremendous amount of misinformation on social media in reference to the incident at ChemStar. The facility received a barrel of product for their operation that was damaged in shipment. The Fire Department Hazardous Material Team was deployed to assist ChemStar with mitigating the situation. At no time was there a threat to McPherson or the residents. The facility management did a fantastic job of containing the product and conducting a safe mitigation. The plant continued with normal operations once the hazard was removed. We would like to say Thank you to ChemStar and the supporting agencies on the incident.”
