HUTCHINSON – McPherson Middle School’s girls tennis team came away with second-place finishes in three divisions on Tuesday during the Hutchinson Invitational.

Brodie Kuhn at No. 1 singles, Avery Eveland and Mercedes Ladwig at No. 2 doubles, and Eve Hanschu and Hannah Brubaker at No. 3 doubles all took second place.

Meanwhile, Alix Wilson was fourth at No. 3 singles, Erin Olsen was sixth at No. 2 singles, and Kennedy Tully and Maryn Sandbo were sixth at No. 1 doubles.

MMS coach Paul Reichenberger said he was pleased with the performance, including the three second-place finishes.

“This tournament was the best competition we faced all year and several of the girls really rose to the occasion and played really well,” he said. “Next week, the team hopes to get three wins as we have a busy final week of competition.”

MMS was fourth as a team with 26 points. There were eight teams in all, led by Andover with 56 points.
