OAKLEY – The revenge tour continued for the Oakley Plainsmen on Friday, resulting in them playing next week for the Class 1A state football championship.
Oakley, which was routed 39-13 by Inman midway through the season, stifled the Teutons in the rematch on Friday in the state semifinals with a 9-0 victory.
Last week, Oakley avenged a 42-14 loss to Smith Center by blanking the Redmen, 20-0. The Plainsmen will play undefeated Olpe next week in Hays. Olpe was a 14-12 winner over Lyndon on Friday.
The loss ended an incredible 9-3 season for the Teutons, whose other losses were to Trinity Catholic and Smith Center. It had been 29 years since the Teutons advanced this far.
