ORANGE BEACH, Ala. —  The NAIA announced Friday that 507 women's soccer student-athletes have been named 2013 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. McPherson College had two on the list in seniors Natasha Chaney and Kayla Besmer.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.

Chaney is a four-year player for Mac soccer and also played three seasons with the women's basketball team. She has appeared in 21 games over her career. Chaney posted one shot throughout her tenure as a defensive player for the Bulldogs.

Joining the club a couple years ago, Besmer transferred in from Allen County Community College as a forward. She scored one goal her first year with the Bulldogs and took seven shots in her 18 games played. In her senior season, Besmer moved to the defense and started at the center back positions for 17 games.
