It was playing time for everyone here Saturday afternoon as Central Christian College’s women frolicked to a 92-61 basketball victory against overmatched Calvary Bible.

Lady Tiger coach Chris Honeck emptied his bench as 11 players scored, including four in double figures.

Libby Regier had her best game of the year with 14 points, while also in doubles were Ashlyn Garza (13), Kadetra O’Brine (12), Kim Osovski 11 and Quamisha Spence (10). Spence completed a double-double with 14 rebounds in just 17 minutes of play.

"All in all, a very good day for us," Honeck said. "I was pleased with just about every aspect of the game. We had great balance with our scoring, dominated the rebounding battle, shot the ball very well, matched our season high for 3-pointers made and set a season high for assists.  On top of that, our defense was pretty solid — we held them to 26-percent shooting and held their best player to 4 of 25 from the floor. All of that adds up to a solid win for us.

'More importantly, I really liked the demeanor of our team, both on the court and off.  Our bench showed great enthusiasm, and the kids were smiling and having fun playing basketball today, which is what it's all about.  It was great to see that again — we had lost a bit of that during that tough stretch of games two weeks ago. We still have some things we need to work on, but it's always easier to come to practice the day after a big win."

Central blitzed Calvary with 53 first-half points, making 23 of 33 shots, including 5 of 12 from 3-point.

Calvary’s Allie Riegel led all scorers with 18 points, but was just 4 of 25 from the field, 1 of 12 from 3-point.

The victory raised Central’s record to 6-8. Next action for the Lady Tigers is Thursday when they host Ozark Christian College. CCC is going for the season sweep as it won the first meeting, 71-55.
