HAYS — Central Christian College’s men found out Saturday that there’s a big difference between a good NCAA Division II basketball team and a good NAIA team.
The Tigers lost a 95-50 verdict to Fort Hays State in what was an exhibition game that didn’t count on Central’s record.
“We really could not get anything going on either end of the floor tonight,” CCC coach Tony Romero said. “They beat us up in the paint and on the boards."
Fort Hays State made seven 3-pointers in the first half to blow the game open early, 49-21, while the Tigers were making just seven field goals for the half.
Kris Quant led the Tigers with 12 points, while Aaron Miller just missed double figures with nine.
CCC will take an 11-1 record to Florida on Jan. 4 to play in the Bahama House Shootout, hosted by nationally ranked Embry Riddle University.
