It’s all about getting experience.

McPherson High’s youthful wrestling team, coming off seven matches last week at Colby, will take part in five more duals on Saturday at Hoyt.

Royal Valley High School is the host for the event, which is scheduled to get under way at 9 a.m., weather permitting.

The order for the Bullpups is Hays, Santa Fe Trail, Marysville, Abilene and Royal Valley. Hays is in Class 5A, Santa Fe Trail, Abilene and Royal Valley are 4A and Marysville is 3A.

MHS coach Doug Kretzer believes this is another good opportunity for his team to wrestle a passel of matches as it continues to improve. Todd Graber is coming off a great weekend at Colby, as he was 6-1 in the 145-pound class. Michael McKinney also had a good tourney, going 5-2 at 285.

While the varsity is at Hoyt, the JVs also will be in action with a round-robin event at Rose Hill, which has an 8:30 a.m. start.
