Swede wrestlers lose 36-9 verdict

GRAND JUNCTIOn, Colo.  —  Sixteenth-ranked Colorado Mesa University dealt 13th-ranked Bethany College a 36-9 setback in a dual wrestling match on Thursday.

Quinton Harrson and Taylor Baird were the only winners for the Swedes, Baird winning by a fall.

Results are as follows:

125: Quinton Harrison won 4-3.

133: James Lohman was pinned at 4:25

141: Colt Rogers was pinned at 6:40.

149: Courtney Strauss lost 4-1

157: Jonathan Blackwell was pinned at 0:24

174: Matthew Atwood lost by technical fall, 17-1

184: Spencer Wilson was defeated 8-4

197: Taylor Baird won by pin at 2:00.

285:  Zach Anderson lost 5-1

The Swedes next compete at the Hastings Open on Saturday, Jan. 11.

"It is tough to drive this far and have the performance we did," Bethany coach Jacob Marrs said. "We gave up bonus points in too many matches and failed to capitalize on the opportunities we had to win a couple of close matches. We appreciate Mesa's hospitality and we look forward to hosting them next year."
