TOPEKA — McPherson High graduate Casyn Buchman continues to put up All-America-type numbers.
Buchman’s Washburn University women’s basketball team was outlasted 85-80 Sunday by Lindenwood, but her effort could only be considered valiant.
Buchman, a junior guard, tied her career high with 27 points, making 12 of 23 floor shots and 3 of 4 free throws. She also came up with nine rebounds and five assists, while playing all but one of the game’s 40 minutes.
In her 10 games so far, she has been a model of consistency. She has scored in double figures in every game and has six games of 20 points or better.
She is averaging 21.2 points a game, shooting 51 percent from the floor, 35 from 3-point, grabbing 6.5 rebounds a game from her guard spot and is dealing out 4.6 assists a game. Maybe her most amazing stat is free throws, having made 38 of 42 for 91 percent.
The Ichabods are 6-4 on the year and they don’t play again until Jan. 4 at Missouri Western.
