Swede wrestlers ranked No. 14

LINDSBORG — The Bethany College wrestling team is ranked 14th in the current NAIA poll. 

The Swedes previously earned a No. 13 ranking in the second poll on Dec. 11, a No.10 ranking in the first Coaches' Poll on Nov. 20, and a No. 12 ranking in the NAIA Coaches' Preseason Poll on Oct. 23.

"I am glad that the NAIA has so many rankings throughout the year to promote our sport," Bethany coach Jacob Marrs said. "Our goal is to win the rest of this day and then focus on the next. We are focused on the process and we aim to be ready for regionals and nationals."

The Swedes are also ranked third in the NAIA Central Group Qualifying Poll with 136 team points. 

Grand View (Iowa) led the Central group with 210 team points, followed by Missouri Valley 194, Bethany 136, Baker 115, Oklahoma City 92, Wayland Baptist (Texas) 67, William Penn (Iowa) 44, Benedictine 32.

In addition, seven Bethany wrestlers are ranked in the NAIA wrestling top individuals:

141: junior Colt Rogers, 11th, 15 total points

149: junior Colby Crank, 2nd, 72 total points

157: freshman Jonathan Blackwell, 9th, 22.5 total points

165: junior Jordon Ward, 15th, 6.5 total points.

184: freshman Spencer Wilson, 16th, 4 total points.

197: junior Taylor Baird, 13th, 7.5 total points.

285: junior Zach Anderson, 16th, 4.5 total points.
