SALINA — Doane College handed the Bethany College women their 13th straight basketball loss on Saturday, 74-53 in the second day of the Kansas Wesleyan Classic.
The Swedes were down only 35-29 at the half, but Doane took control from there.
“We had a great first half and played solid for the first 10 minutes of the second half before their size finally wore us down," Bethany coach Brett Morehouse said. "We just couldn't buy a shot from behind the arc despite getting some good open looks. We took care of the ball compared to Friday, only 15 turnovers today compared to 29 yesterday, while also forcing 22 turnovers. But we didn't convert their mistakes into points and got dominated on the boards."
Alex Brammer continues to be a shining light for the Swedes, as she poured in 15 points. Ashley Carey was next with 11.
The Swedes, 2-14 overall, go to Leavenworth on Thursday to play Saint Mary in a matchup of teams that are 0-4 in the KCAC. The loser will be outright last.
