There was no letdown for the Central Christian College men’s basketball team here Thursday night.

The Tigers, coming off what had to be considered a successful trip to Florida, had no trouble lighting it up against Manhattan Christian College, rolling to a 94-80 victory to improve to 13-2 on the year.

The Tigers shot nearly 60 percent in racing to a 51-34 halftime lead and while they cooled off in the second half, they still finished at 50 percent.

Aaron Miller led four Tigers in double figures with 19 points. Kendric Warren had one of his best games of the year with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Nathan Fort provided his usual punch off the bench with 13 points and Michael Gholston scored 10.

Will Chisam led Manhattan Christian with 16.

Central is home Saturday to play Hillsdale Baptist in its final pre-conference tuneup, which has a 5 p.m. start.

• MANHATTAN CHRISTIAN WOMEN 89, CENTRAL 80 — The Crusaders denied the CCC women a chance to reach the .500 mark.

Central dropped to 7-9 in its first appearance of 2014. It wasted some nice efforts, as Quamisha Spence had a huge double-double with 23 points and 17 rebounds, while Ashlyn Garza came off the bench for 21 points, including five treys. Libby Regier furnished 14 more points.

The first half told the story as Manhattan Christian led 41-27, but the deficit was too much for Central to overcome. Sarah Wenger and Brittany Shaklee each scored 22 points to lead the way.

Central is home Saturday afternoon for a 3 p.m. date against Hillsdale Baptist, then begins conference play the following Friday.

CCC (80) — Powell 2, Spence 23, Shaw 4, Regier 14, Rhodes 9, Garza 21, Salazar 1, Osovski 2, Alderson 4.
