SALINA — Just call Jace Kinnamon “Mr. Lockdown.”

McPherson seventh-grade boys basketball coach Treg Fawl said it was Kinnamon’s defense that keyed a 38-33 road victory over Salina South Thursday, as the Bullpups are now 7-1.

“We had a game plan to shut down their big center going into the game,” Fawl said. “Jace Kinnamon was given the assignment and we held him to four points. We played great team defense all around.”

Kyler Hoppes scored 17 points to lead the Bullpups’ offense.

The B-team won in overtime, 48-44. “The B-team continues to get better every game and it was good to see them get another win,” Fawl said.

Jarrod Nowak’s 19 points led the way, as the B-team is now 4-4.

MMS A (38) — Hoppes 17, Alexander 7, Hoover 6, Wilson 5, Wiard 2, Kinnamon 1.

MMS B (48) — Nowak 19, Stegman 8, Brossard 6, Whittker 4, Yowell 4, Johnson 3, Strawn 2, Lawrence 1, Brewer 1.
