Eldredge, Graber shine for MHS wrestlers

BUHLER — McPherson High wrestling coach Doug Kretzer said the final score doesn’t sometimes tell the whole story.

Buhler pinned its way to a 63-12 win over the Bullpups on Thursday, but Kretzer thought his team was more competitive than it might look.

“We wrestled a lot better than the score,” Kretzer said. “Austin Eldredge and Todd Graber (who posted wins by pins) both wrestled very clean matches.  I was quite impressed with the way Cole (Kretzer), Ethan (VanDorn), Kaleb (Jost) and Michael (McKinney) wrestled, even in defeat. Buhler had nine seniors in their lineup tonight and the difference in maturity showed up.  The pins got the score out of hand, but our effort was outstanding.”

MHS competes Saturday at Maize.
