McPherson’s eighth-grade girls continued their pursuit of a perfect basketball season here Tuesday.

The Bullpups smoked Salina Lakewood 45-24 to move to 14-0 on the season. They had tremendous balance as Rylee Schrader and Taylor Robertson scored 11 points apiece, Mandi Cooks had 10 and Kaitlyn Gabel added nine. MMS outscored Lakewood 23-8 in the second half.

“This group has played very well together as a team the whole year,” MMS coach Jay Crawford said.

The B-team is now 11-1 after a 39-17 win behind 15 points by Bailea Crist and 14 more by Mattea Black. Crawford said the team has really picked up the pace offensively.

MMS A (45) — Crist 2, Hein 2, Gabel 9, Cooks 10, Schrader 11, Robertson 11.

MMS B (39) — Barrett 2, Wash 4, Schmidt 4, Black 14, Crist 15.
