Bethany wrestlers pin Bacone

LINDSBORG — Bethany College’s 14th-ranked wrestling team totally dominated Bacone College on Wednesday, surrendering just one match in a 42-3 rout.

Bacone won the first match at 125, but was never to be heard from again.

"This was a solid team performance tonight with each guy stepping in and feeding off a great atmosphere," Bethany coach Jacob Marrs said. "We really want to make each of our dual meets a special event and it is good to see us perform at a high level at home. We couldn't be more grateful for our fans, administration and the college in helping create that environment.”

157: Jonathan Blackwell defeated Andres Perez 7-2. (Bethany 15-3)

165: Jordon Ward defeated Josue Terrones 7-5. (Bethany 18-3)

174: Zach Eaton pinned Thomas Pegues at 1:20. (Bethany 24-3)

184: Spencer Wilson pinned Jose Hernandez at 1:50. (Bethany 30-3)

197: Taylor Baird pinned Vincent Opuiyo at 4:35. (Bethany 36-3)

285: Zach Anderson pinned Fernando Herrera at 1:15. (Bethany 42-3)

The Swedes are in action Saturday at the Midwest Dual in Kearney, Neb. They tangle with Doane College at 9 a.m., Dakota Wesleyan University at 11:30 a.m., Hastings College at 2 p.m., and Southwest Minnesota State University at 4 p.m.
