CRETE, Neb. — The Bethany College indoor track and field teams participated in the Scott Nisely Memorial Classic Saturday at Doane College.
"I was very pleased with the team’s overall performance this weekend,” Bethany coach Ken Ciolek said. "Our team continues to show great improvements and we are becoming more and more confident every week."
Kaitlyn Davis led the way for the women's team as she finished in fifth by clearing 5-1 3/4 in the high jump. Amy Bosley placed well for the women as she ran in the top 10 in the 200 with a time of 28.01. She also finished 16th in the long jump with a mark of 4.59M.
The 4 x 400 team of Layne Gilliland, Kylee Martinez, Kyra Sprenger and Chelsea Stuewe finished with a time of 4:47.07. Gilliland also finished 11th in the 600 with a time of 1:49.93. Elizabeth Benoit ran a 6:29.95 in the one mile.
Araceli Aburto ran a 2:51.62 in the 800 race. Karessa Nordyke threw a 10.96M in the weight throw and a 7.49M in the shot put.
The men's team was led by Jeremiah Gerardy, who finished second in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 9:06.54. James Farris also ran well and finished third in 600 with a time of 1:26.01.
The men's 4 x 400 finished seventh by running a 3:36.87 with Seth Maples, Farris, Jordan Dahlke and Zach Hartwell. Hartwell also placed fourth in the 800 by running a 2:08.34.
"Many personal records and season best were set this weekend and I am extremely excited to see us continue to develop as we build toward the KCAC Championships in a few weeks,” Ciolek said.
The track and field team will next be in action Jan. 24 in Lawrence.
