The jockeying continues for sub-state basketball seedings.
Going into this week, McPherson High’s boys would still be the No. 1 seed for the sub-state they will be hosting after the regular season is completed.
MHS is 8-0, but will be facing tough competition this week in its upcoming McPherson Invitational, sponsored by Midway Motors.
Abilene has reeled off five wins in a row to move into the No. 2 spot at 7-2 and it competes this week in the Salina Invitational. Buhler, which could find it tough sledding in the McPherson Invitational since it’s the smallest school in the field, is 5-3 and Ulysses currently is the No. 4 seed at 5-5 as no team in the field is under the .500 mark. It is traveling across state to compete in the Coffeyville-Field Kindley Classic this week.
On the girls’ side, some semblance of shape is taking place. Buhler is 7-1, with its lone loss coming to McPherson. It has a tough game coming up Friday against Andale. Abilene is No. 2 at this point with a 6-3 record, but has a tough set of games coming up in the Salina Invitational Tournament this week. McPherson High is 5-4 and hosts Circle Tuesday, while Ulysses has fallen back at 3-7. It also competes at Coffeyville this week.
