The girls take center stage here Tuesday night.

In a girls-only night of play, McPherson High entertains Circle in its final tune-up before next week’s Mid America Classic. Pairings for the event are scheduled to be announced on Wednesday.

The freshman game is set for 4 p.m., the JV starts at 6 and the varsity should tip sometime near 7:30 p.m. Varsity coverage on 96.7 KBBE FM starts 15 minutes prior to tip.

The Bullpups are riding a hot streak, as they have won four of their last five to move to 5-4 on the year. They are hoping for as high as a No. 2 or 3 seed in next week’s tournament.

MHS is coming off crushing victories over AVCTL Division III tail-enders Rose Hill and El  Dorado, winning both games by at least 30 points.

Circle, which is in Division IV, is enjoying a nice 6-3 season, including a quality 45-42 win over Division III member Mulvane. It also has a victory over Andale to its credit.

MHS coach Chris Strathman said after Friday’s win over El Dorado that he’s expecting Circle to be much more competitive than the last couple of games and that the Bullpups need to come out focused. Circle played MHS tough for much of last year’s game before the Bullpups came away with a double-digit victory.
