It will be a “Wednesday Night Special” for McPherson College’s basketball teams as they close out the first time through the KCAC schedule.
KCAC games have been moved from Thursday so not to conflict with high school tournaments.
Mac will host Southwestern at the Sport Center, with the women playing at 6 p.m. and the men at 8.
The Moundbuilder women will be attempting to complete a perfect first go-around, as they lead the KCAC at 8-0. Mac, after a 3-0 conference start, has lost five in a row, including a two-point decision Saturday to Bethany, which had lugged a 16-game losing streak into the game and was without a conference victory.
In the men’s game, the Bulldogs are looking to catch the Moundbuilders in the KCAC standings. Southwestern is 3-5, a game up on the 2-6 Bulldogs.
Southwestern played a much-softer nonconference schedule, fattening up on some weaker teams to go 10-1 as it’s 13-6 overall.
The Bulldogs are coming off an 89-68 loss to Bethany, a game they led by eight points at halftime before the Swedes ramped up the intensity to score 55 second-half points.
After Wednesday, the Mac teams begin the second time through the KCAC schedule by playing Saturday at Bethel.
