SALINA — Hannah McBride’s short shot with 10 seconds left enabled Smoky Valley’s girls to capture a 37-35 victory over Clay Center Wednesday in the consolation bracket of the Salina Invitational Tournament at the Bicentennial Center.
Clay Center had charged back from 10 points down to get the game tied, but McBride, appropriately, completed her great game with the winner, giving her 16 points.
The Vikings had led 21-18 at the half and still were up by three points going into the fourth quarter.
Hannah Hattabaugh yanked down seven rebounds for the Vikings.
Smoky Valley, now 2-9, plays 7-4 Concordia for fifth place on Friday. The Panthers edged Sacred Heart 44-43 in Wednesday’s other consolation game.
