GREAT BEND — McPherson’s eighth-grade girls completed an historic basketball season on Tuesday.
The A-team put the finishing touches on a perfect 16-0 season with a 48-28 victory over Great Bend behind 18 points by Taylor Robertson and 16 by Mandi Cooks.
“This group really played hard the whole season and dominated in several games,” MMS coach Jay Crawford said. “They really played as a team, which really made it an enjoyable season. We were very good on both ends of the court. We outscored our opponents, 761 to 292. This team is one of the best to come through MMS.”
The B-team also won 36-16 to finish 15-1, as the program produced a 31-1 overall record. Bailea Crist’s 13 points led the Bullpups and Mattea Black was next with seven.
“This team had a wonderful season,” Crawford said. “We improved every game. They worked very hard and gave great effort. This group brought it every game and showed how competitive they were and that's what I enjoyed about them the most.”
