Jr. Eagle boys triumph

The Elyria Christian Junior High boys continued their basketball season Thursday with a 36-19 victory over Wakefield in the first round of the Wheat State League Tournament.

Elyria outscored Wakefield 27-6 during the middle two quarters to take control. 

Tyler Thiessen made 7 of 10 floor shots to score 14 points to lead the Junior Eagles and also came up with eight steals on the defensive end. Aidan Fields added 11 points and three assists.

The Junior Eagles are scheduled to play again Saturday against either Goessel or Centre.

The Junior Eagles girls ended their season at 2-11 with a 33-19 loss to Solomon. No scoring was available.
