MHS bowlers split with Circle

A big second set, which included a pair of 200 games, propelled the McPherson High girls bowling team to an easy 2,235-1,841 victory over Circle Friday at Starlite Lanes.

The top four scores of each set are counted and after a 700 to open the day, a 213 by Jasmine Wann and 203 by Mayce Nightingale sparked a 778 set, while Circle was managing just 572.

That was enough for the Bullpups to pull away, and they were more than 100 pins better in the third set as the margin grew.

Wann led the Bullpups with a 601, followed by Nightingale with 535.

• BOYS UPSET — The Bullpups were good, including two bowlers over 600, but a blistering 730 by the T-Birds’ Jerod Hromek led them to a 2,591-2,421 victory.

Hromek had a tremendous 269 out of the chute and showed that it was no fluke with games of 223 and 238.

The T-Birds also received a 627 from Colton Carvell, who had a 277 game. Jacob Cockrum’s 622 didn’t hurt, either, highlighted by a 232 game.

MHS received nice days from Jeff Reed (616) and Joel Morey (615). Reed had a high of 237 and all three of Morey’s games were over 200. Carl Frazier had a nice 248 game and Austin Mitchell fired a 234 in his second game.

The MHS JVs were highlighted by a terrific 634 by Jacob Krehbiel, which included games of 234 and 224.
