The swimming communities of Lindsborg and McPherson are coming together at the McPherson YMCA Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon to swim as many laps as they can to support Lindsborg resident Mija Stockman and her family.
Mija, who teaches in the local school system, was critically injured in a car accident in December and is now in Nebraska recovering.
More than 40 swimmers are taking part and several of them have pledges over the $500 mark. Two large speedo bags have been donated by Action Accents in Des Moines, Iowa. One will be given to the swimmer that raises the most money and one to the person who swims the farthest.
The busiest time will be from 9 to 10 a.m., but some older lap swimmers will be coming in at 8 a.m., then a lot of the Aquapups and swim lesson youth from the Aqua Bug program will be swimming from 10-11.
Everyone is urged to support this great cause.
