Tiger baseball opens with split in Texas

WAXAHACHIE, Texas — Central Christian College’s baseball team opened its season in Texas Thursday, splitting a twinbill with Southwestern Assemblies of God.

CCC won the first game 7-5, breaking a 5-5 tie with two runs in the fifth. Doug Gove went the distance for the win, not walking a batter in seven innings. Drew Scheisser was 3 for 4 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Tyler Gniadek added two hits and two RBIs and Ian Eshelman drove in a pair of runs as well. Zane Howard scored two runs.

The Lions earned the split with a 4-2 win in the nightcap. Martin Guevara laced three hits for CCC. Austin Hightower took the loss despite allowing just three earned runs and walking only one in six innings. SAGU scored all its runs in the first three innings.

CCC is playing a single game today against Arlington Baptist.
