Good meet for Bethany wrestlers

BALDWIN CITY  — The Bethany College wrestling team competed in the Jimmy May-hem Open at Baker University on Sunday.

The Swedes recorded 14 pins for a total time of 37:37 and eight wrestlers placed at the meet.

Freshman Victor Hughes was crowned champion in the 149 division. He won by 3-0 decision, won by medical forfeit and won by 1-0 decision.

In the 157 division, junior Steven Scott finished fourth. He won by major decision 19-7 and won by falls at 1:07 and 2:47.

Freshman Tanner Ogden placed third in the 165 class. He won by major decision 11-3, won by fall at 4:20 and won by 6-5 decision.

In the 174 division, junior Matt Atwood placed third. He won by fall at 5:16 and won by decisions of 5-3 and 7-4. Also at 174, freshman Tanner O'Donnell took fourth, winning by falls at 2:00 and 1:45.

In an undefeated 3-0 performance, freshman Spencer Wilson was crowned champion in the 184. Wilson won by 7-5 decision, won by fall at 1:21 and won by medical forfeit.

At 197, freshman Kyler Atwood took third, winning by fall at 4:23 and by 7-0 decision. Senior Malcolm Norris finished fourth, winning by 3-2 decision, 6-3 decision and by fall at 1:19.
