ROSE HILL — McPherson High’s 106-pounder Austin Eldredge continues to look like the Bullpups’ best bet for postseason success.

Eldredge was the only Bullpup to place Saturday in the Rose Hill Invitational, taking fifth place. He was 4-2 for the tournament.

“We once again ran into some tough competition,” MHS coach Doug Kretzer said. “Eldredge had another good tournament. (Todd) Graber and (Kaleb) Jost wrestled well even though they didn’t place.”

The Bullpups are getting close to the end, so Kretzer said it’s time to step up if they want to do some damage in the postseason.

“The season is coming down to the wire,” he said. “We wrestle at El Dorado Thursday and they we will finish up at Remington.  We held some of our younger guys out of Rose Hill so we would have the points available to take them to a smaller varsity tournament this weekend.”

Here are the MHS results:

106 — Austin Eldredge, 4-2, 5th

106 — Andrew Trowbridge, 1-2

113 — Cole Kretzer, 0-2
