CEDAR HILL, Texas — Northwood University of Texas, coached by McPherson native and former MHS standout Jeremy Kennedy, completed its baseball sweep of McPherson College on Sunday as the Bulldogs opened the season 0-4 against the nation’s No. 13-ranked team as they also had been swept on Saturday.

Northwood nipped Mac 1-0 in Sunday’s first game, scoring a run in the bottom of the eighth to win it.

The Bulldogs managed only three hits. Taylor Werts was the hard-luck loser, giving up only four hits and the lone run.

The Bulldogs never recovered from that tough loss, being blown out 13-1 in the nightcap, giving up a pair of five-run innings.

Mac again struggled at the plate with just five hits, all singles. No player collected multiple hits. Keegan Hays took the loss.

The Bulldogs play Friday at St. Gregory’s of Oklahoma in a single game, then the schools play a pair on Saturday.
