SALINA — McPherson College’s Samson Shivers always seems to save his best for Kansas Wesleyan.

In his final career appearance against the Coyotes Thursday night, Shivers fired one last salvo at his favorite team by making three 3-pointers in overtime and scored 26 points in all as the Bulldogs escaped with a 102-95 victory.

Mac clinched a KCAC playoff berth with the win as it’s now 6-9 in the conference and 13-14 overall.

Shivers made 8 of 12 3-pointers in the wild offensive contest that found Mac with a 41-40 halftime lead and it was 80-all at the end of regulation, as Erik DeRoo’s last-second chance to win it for the Bulldogs fell short.

"I was really pleased with our grit in overtime," McPherson coach Tim Swartzendruber said. "We had our chances in regulation, but couldn't finish but we kept our heads and showed a lot of heart. I'm really proud of the team."

MC’s D’onte Woods had the best game of his four-year career as he came off the bench to score 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Devirous Johnson just missed his usual double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds. DeRoo and T.J. Grant added 11 points apiece.

Brock Borovetz and Michael Johnson led KW with 19 points apiece.

Mac is home Saturday to take on Ottawa.

Aubrey Barton scored 14 points and pulled down nine rebounds for the Bulldogs, while Callie Atkins had a nice game off the bench with 13 points.
