AUGUSTA — Before McPherson High’s huge bowling dual with Buhler today at Starlite Lanes, there was a matter of tangling with El Dorado Thursday in a dual contested at nearby Augusta.

The MHS boys were pushed before prevailing, 2,388-2,150. MHS’ Carl Frazier had the house buzzing in the first game with nine straight strikes before finishing with a 277. He went on to lead the way with a 687 series, while Brett Hartzell had a 608.

The MHS girls were upset by the Wildcats, 2,183-2,035. Crystal Nutter’s 517 led MHS.

“It was a different meet as it was a small center and the girls and boys were bowling at the same time on the same lanes,” MHS coach Herb Halinski said. “It took a little longer for the kids to get into a rhythm as it was longer between shots.”

The Bullpups host Buhler at 3 p.m. today and it is expected to produce some huge numbers as both schools are state powers. It is MHS’ Senior Day at Starlite Lanes.
