SHAWNEE, Okla. — McPherson College’s baseball team continues to play a difficult schedule that should prepare it well for the upcoming KCAC portion of the season.
Mac played a very strong St. Gregory’s team this weekend, coming up empty in a three-game series.
• St. Gregory’s 8, Mac 7 (11 innings) — The Bulldogs scored two runs in the ninth to force extra innings in the single, nine-inning game. St. Gregory’s, though, tallied a run in the bottom of the 11th for the win.
Tom Potter and Jose Nossa collected two hits apiece for Mac and Austin Russell drove in two runs. Potter actually reached base five times as he walked three times. Brant Rhodes took the loss in relief, allowing two runs in four innings.
• St. Gregory’s 7, Mac 4 — The Bulldogs were held to three hits and St. Gregory’s took control of this game with three first-inning runs. Nossa had two of the hits. Taylor Werts was the pitcher of record.
• St. Gregory’s 6, Mac 5 — The Bulldogs stormed back with three runs in the seventh to make it close, but a five-run fourth inning was the decider.
Nossa had two more hits and two RBIs to lead the way. Six other Bulldogs had one hit each. Scott Hughes took the loss.
The Bulldogs, 0-7 against nothing but top-notch teams, make their home debut Friday hosting Mid-America Christian. First pitch is set for noon at Light Capital Diamond.
